Paving the Way
We are excited about the digital transformation that has taken place in our Roodepoort factory in Johannesburg. ASSA ABLOY SA has invested over R10 million in automated processes. In total, we have installed 6 robots. These incredible machines foster quick and flawless assembling of various aspects of our business. These include lever locks, engraving and signage, finishing of brass products and die casting.
On the factory floor, lock assemblers work alongside robots in the lever lock assembly line. This collaborative process has vastly improved the speed and quality of our finished product. Another addition is our new linishing machine. This process smooths the surface of the brass padlock after pinning is complete. Not only has this automation allowed for a continuous improvement in the quality of the locks, but it has improved the aesthetics of the locks too. We’ve also added a robot to the production line in our building information signage department. This robot seamlessly paints the engraved signs with ink and does so very efficiently.
Since the implementation of this automation, we’ve seen incredible benefits. The speed of production and quality has improved. Lead times have been reduced. This ensures that we are better able to service our customers. However, one of the most impactful changes and one that we’re very excited about, is that collaborative robotics is allowing the upskilling of our employees.
The future is looking bright and we look forward to having you be part of our journey. If you’d like to find out more about ASSA ABLOY, one of the largest global suppliers of intelligent locks and security solutions please Contact Us or you can also follow us on Facebook
